When the trailer of Koffee With Karan 7 ’s new episode released, one major revelation that left audiences surprised was that Kriti Sanon auditioned for Karan Johar ’s film Student of the Year. She was rejected and the role later went to actress Alia Bhatt , who began her filmy journey as Shanaya. This made headlines, and yet again all eyes were on the filmmaker. However, now that the whole episode is out, we know the real reason why Kriti lost the movie to Alia and instead made her big Bollywood debut with Heropanti opposite Tiger Shroff .
While sipping koffee with Karan and Tiger, Kriti shared, “You know my first audition was actually for Student of the Year 1.” When KJo said 'oops', Kriti replied, “No, I was horrible then. So it's fine.” Karan was surprised and said, “Oh you were? Please say it loudly to the camera so I don't get trolled for this, because I don't remember seeing your audition at all.” Kriti revealed that she had not moved to Mumbai and was in Delhi back then. She had just begun her career in modeling when she gave her first ever film audition for the Karan Johar directorial.

Just like Alia, Kriti had also danced to the song Bahara and did a scene from Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma’s film Wake Up Sid for the audition. Talking about Heropanti, Kriti revealed that she got the lead role immediately. She was told that she will be signing the film in 10 minutes at Sajid Nadiadwala’s office. The actress shared that the news felt unreal and did not sink in till she and Tiger started doing workshops together.
