Updated : July 14, 2022 06:55 PM ISTKajol is all set to make her debut in the web series space and is apparently charging a bomb per episode.
Kajol has completed three decades in Bollywood and will soon begin new innings in her acting career as she ventures into the web series space with director Suparn Verma's upcoming project for Disney + Hotstar . The Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge actress has apparently already begun shooting for the project this week and is charging big bucks per episode for the web series.
In the web series, Kajol will be playing a stay at home mother in her 40's who after a discord with her husband ventures out to make a career and be the bread winner of the family. The series apparently packs family drama, crime and politics and will be added to Disney+ Hotstar's 2023 slate.
According to a report on Rediff, Kajol was initially reluctant to make a long commitment for one project but said yes instantly when the script was narrated to her by director Suparn Verma who has previously served as a director for Manoj Bajpayee 's hit series The Family Man 2. The actress is said to charging a pretty penny for the series and is reportedly taking home Rs. 5 crores per episode in what could be a multi-season digital outing.
Kajol's fee per film is reportedly Rs. 5-6 crores which means she is essentially being paid per episode what she would have earned per film. Even if the project has eight to ten episode that would put Kajol's fee for the untitled web series in the bracket of Rs. 40-50 crores.
While an official announcement regarding the project is still pending, it is said to have gone on floors from July 11. The web series will be Kajol's second OTT outing after her debut with the Netflix film Tribhanga which was directed by Renuka Shahane.
Kajol has been quite picky about the projects she signs for the past many years and is even known to have turned down Ram Madhvani 's Emmy nominated web series Aarya which later went to actress Sushmita Sen. We hope that the project she has finally picked to make her debut in the web series space will surprise her fans and will feature her in an avatar we haven't seen her in before.
