HBO launches an intense and gripping first trailer for its post-apocalyptic series The Last of Us

The series developed for HBO Max is the latest adaption with Sony Pictures to create live -adaptions of some of their most popular video game franchises, the last entry being Uncharted starring Tom Holland in the lead.

The first trailer for The Last of Us gives us a broad glimpse of what we can expect in the first season and from what is on display it feels like the series will be a fateful adaption of the video game.

The series is set 20 years after a deadly virus like most of humanity leaving behind only a few pockets of survivors who must fight for survival our main protagonist is Joel played by Pedro Pascal who is tasked with escorting a 14-year-old girl named Ellie played by Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones fame to a secret research facility.

The series is created by Craig Mazin who is known for his work on the critically acclaimed mini-series Chernobyl alongside Neil Druckmann who wrote and developed the original video game.

The series began production on July 12, 2021, and wrapped its final schedule on June 10, 2022, series lead Pedro Pascal was paid a whopping 600,000 per episode for the series.

From the looks of the trailer, it is clear it has all the trademarks of an HBO show, that includes high production value, gorgeous cinematography, and impressive special effects.

Hopefully, the series will be able to recreate the success of the video game as The Last of Us holds a special place among fans.

The supporting cast of the show includes Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, Storm Reid, Merle Dandridge, Jeffrey Pierce, and Keivonn Woodard.

The first season of The Last of Us will consist of eight episodes and will premiere on HBO Max on January 15, 2023.
