Loki Season 2 Episode 1 Review: A slightly messy but okay start to a new season
Loki
Loki and the TVA race against time to fix the scared timeline.
The first episode of the second season of the MCU's Loki has dropped and it is set immediately after the events of season one's finale with the sacred timeline branching out uncontrollably.
The first episode directed by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead is a bit messy and all over the place, something which can be avoided at least in part by viewers if they watched or rewatched the first season in preparation.
In the first episode, we see the TVA, which seemed all-powerful and all-knowing in the last season, crumble from within as its members come to learn the truth about their existence.
Only Morbius and B-15 are keeping or trying at least to keep a level head and keep the TVA's head above water. As for the god of mischief, Loki is slipping between different points in time trying to reach Morbius.
Solutions are finally offered by Ouroboros, head of the tech team at the TVA, and played by a charming Ke Huy Quan.
The actor does a great job considering the fact that the writing in the episode is okay at best and tiring at its worst.
A few of the jokes do land, but unfortunately, they are repeated immediately in an effort to prolong the effect of the joke but this ends up backfiring.
However, despite these issues what does work is the chemistry between the characters especially between Owen Wilson's Morbius and Tom Hiddleston's Loki.

The episode also does a good job of setting up the chaotic tone of the new season and it will be interesting to see how Loki and his allies get themselves out of their current predicament.
I am also curious as to what they will do with Kang the Conqueror, mainly whether or not he will continue to be the main villain or if he will be replaced this season due to actor Johnathan Major's legal troubles.
So unless you are a die-hard MCU fan, I would recommend you hold off on jumping into the new season until more of the episodes drop.
New episodes of Loki drop every Friday on Disney+.
