Aarya 3 - Antim Vaar Review: Sushmita Sen's fierce performance is the guiding anchor of this crime drama
Aarya 3
Aarya (Sushmita Sen) faces bigger and more dangerous enemies as she takes charge of the drug business. But what keeps her going with the sole objective of protecting her children.
As the title suggests ‘Antim Vaar’, Aarya Season 3 starring Sushmita Sen in the lead role was all about a mother being the ultimate lioness to protect her baby cubs. The third season finally sees her in full charge of the opium business wherein she knows the nitty-gritty of crime, the underworld, and the many betrayals as well as threats lingering over her and her children. However, what forms the main guiding anchor of Aarya 3 is Sushmita Sen’s fierce performance. The woman proves that she was born to portray this vigorous character.
The third season has Aarya (Sushmita Sen) making more dangerous enemies in the form of the Russian mafia, a vengeful husband (Indraneil Sengupta), a rival opium trader (Ila Arun) and her old nemesis Inspector Khan (Vikas Kumar). As they threaten to corner her, her relationship with her children Veer (Viren Vazirani), Aru (Aarushi Bajaj), and Adi (Pratyaksh Panwar) is also going to shambles as her business tends to threaten everything they hold dear. Will Aarya still be able to take charge of her world falling apart and also protect her children in the process? Not to forget, she also faces the terrible consequences of her tumultuous profession which might leave the life of her loved ones crumbling.

Director Ram Madhvani and his co-directors Kapil Sharma and Shraddha Jairath have managed to double the perils and anticipation in the plot. Aarya faces allies and betrayals from everywhere but garners the strength to brave it all with the sole objective of protecting her children. ‘Ek Ma Apne Bachon Ko Bachane Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hain’ - this resonates throughout the series forming the main crux of the show. The performances further elevate this interpersonal relationship between the characters whether they share a bond of love or enmity.

However, the series does not let any subplot breathe before jumping on to the next one. Before we can resonate with a particular plotline or character development, we are introduced to the next one. This makes us lose attention to some of the subplots or characters. We are also unable to empathize with Aarya’s children grieving and being protective of their respective love interests for which they even go loggerheads with their mother. There was no development in establishing their love stories with the characters of Roop (Shweta Pasricha) and Dhruv (Rohit Choudhry). Some of the twists and turns also fall prey to predictability.
Sushmita Sen is a tigress in her performance which is also a symbolism for her character. This time she not only flaunts the vulnerability and strength of Aarya but delivers a mighty sword-fighting scene that will leave you wide-eyed with amazement. The performances of Viren Vazirani and Aarushi Bajaj are also top-notch even with a weak writing to their character. However, it is Ila Arun, Indraneil Sengupta, and Vikas Kumar who shine in their respective parts. Sikander Kher as Daulat is underutilized in the third season.
Antim Vaar also has the most nuanced action sequences of the Aarya franchise till now. Minus the few flaws, Aarya 3 manages to impress. Courtesy, the ultimate boss lady, Sushmita Sen.
