Today morning, everyone woke up to the sudden and shocking news about the passing away of the veteran actor Delhi Ganesh, who has been a part of many superhit films. His was an extremely familiar face in many south films.
As per the reports available, Delhi Ganesh (whose real name was Ganesan), passed away at the age of 80 years. And the reason cited for the passing away is old age-related health complications. It’s being reported that the veteran actor took his last breath last on Saturday (November 9) night in Chennai, as per a report in Tamil Samayam.
Looking back, the journey of the veteran actor Delhi Ganesh has been nothing less than spectacular. Not many people are aware of the fact that, before joining films, the late actor Delhi Ganesh was working in the Indian Air Force for around a decade!
The film with which he made his debut on the silver screen was the 1976 film Pattina Pravesam, which was directed by K. Balachander, who is considered to be the extremely respected and admired filmmaker of all times.
After this film, opportunities opened for the veteran actor Delhi Ganesh. In his career spanning many years, Delhi Ganesh has been a part (read ‘integral part’) of many films. Not the one to be restricting his craft to Tamil films alone, Delhi Ganesh even exhibited his acting mettle in other regional languages as well. These languages included Telugu, Malayalam and even Bollywood.
Even though every film of his is a treasured memory in itself, there are a few films for which he will be particularly remembered for! These landmark films include a bunch of Kamal Haasan starrer in the form of Nayakan, Michael Madhana Kamarajan, Apoorva Sagodharargal and even Indian 2.
How can anyone forget his stellar performance in the mega musical hit Sindhu Bhairavi, which starred Sivakumar and Suhasini Mani Ratnam in the leading roles.
And, as for Bollywood, Delhi Ganesh was seen in films like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express and also the Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif starrer Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
Just like many actors, Delhi Ganesh also tried his hand in film production with the film Ennul Aayiram, which had his son Maha as the leading man.
