Dilip Joshi started his career as a backstage artist in the commercial theatre sphere. He was very passionate about the medium and used to be paid Rs 50 per role. 

Dilip Joshi performed in the Gujarati theatre medium for almost 25 years. His last play was Daya Bhai Do Dhaya which ended in the year 2007. 

Dilip Joshi made his Bollywood debut with Maine Pyaar Kiya in a comic role which got him unnoticed. He has also worked in movies like Huma Apke Hai Kon, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Khiladi 420

Dilip Joshi was without work for almost a year before bagging the lead role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and the rest they say is history. 

Dilip Joshi had bagged the role of Champak Lal Gada in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. However, he thought he would be more suited for the role of Jethalal and bagged the same after auditioning for it. 

Dilip Joshi's flawless talent and dedication to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah made him the highest-paid actor not only on the show but also on TV. He gets around 1.50 lakh per episode.  

Dilip Joshi is the owner of some luxury cars. He owns a black Audi Q7 worth Rs 80 lakh and a Toyota Innova worth 14 lakh. 

Dilip Joshi is actually older than his onscreen father from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah played by Amit Bhatt. While Dilip is now 55 years of age, Amit is aged 51.
