Nagarjuna’s Next Falls To Controversy
Whenever filmmakers have dipped into Mythological or historical waters, they always had to face a portion of criticism questioning its authenticity. Be it big or small venture, in Jodhaa-Akbar, Dasavatharam or Da Vinci Code. Now, it is Nagarjuna’s dream project, Om Namo Venkatesaya which has landed into controversy.
The project is based on the legend of Hathiram Baba, which would commence shooting from July 2. The flick is being directed by veteran K. Raghavendra Rao who has earlier paired up with actor for devotional flicks, namely Annamayya and Sri Rama Desaru.
It’s the Hathiram Mutt in Chittoor district who has reportedly raised objections over the filmmakers not contacting them and taking their consult before initiating the project. The group has made it clear in their statement that they will not accept distortion of facts in the name of creative liberties. Nagarjuna’s last release Telugu-Tamil bilingual Oopiri was a great hit, also starring actor Karthi in it.
