Sriya Reddy Talks About Her Comeback In Films
Actress Sriya Reddy ventured into the world of cinema with Balaji Sakthivel’s 2002 Tamil movie ‘Samurai’. She is also an athlete and a former popular VJ. The actress shot to fame essaying versatile roles in movies such as ‘Thimiru’, ‘Veyyil’, ‘Kanchivaram’ and ‘Pallikoodam’ but took a sabbatical from acting career post marriage to actor-producer Vikram Krishna, elder brother of actor Vishal, a few years ago.
Now, after eight-year hiatus, Sriya is all set to make a comeback in the film industry with ‘Andava Kaanom’. The leggy lass was occupied with the production of films when she was on a break from acting. Recently, she confessed that producing films was something which she didn't enjoy doing.
“I didn't like it because I wasn't the boss. I had to listen to my husband Vikram and brother-in-law Vishal”, the talented actress stated, adding “On a serious note, somewhere, I realised that it wasn't my cup of tea. I always wanted to face the camera, and now, I am back”. Touching upon taking a long break, she said, “I don't think it was a conscious decision. But I must admit that interesting projects didn't come my way”.
“Maybe, directors were afraid to offer me films since I was married (laughs). I stood by my decision that I wouldn't want to do something average, or do something just for the heck of it. It was a long wait, though. But of course, I am a tough customer to please”, she added.
Sriya’s upcoming movie is bankrolled by V.S. Rajkumar of Leo Vision Productions and helmed by Velu. The trailer of the flick is quite quirky and got viral immediately after it was released.
