Guru Kalyan Talks About Getting Late singer M. S. Subbulakshmi's Great-GrandDaughter Aishwarya To Sing A Song For ‘Kural 146’
Late singer M. S. Subbulakshmi was a legendary Carnatic singer from Madurai. The singer was awarded Bharat Ratna, which is the country’s highest civilian honour. Now, her great-granddaughter Aishwarya is going to walk in her footsteps.
The young singer will be making her playback singing debut with the movie ‘Kural 146’. The movie is helmed by Umashankar, who has been an assistant of art director Rajeevan. The music of the movie will be composed by Guru Kalyan. Regarding the song, Guru was quoted as saying, “There is a song in the film on mother-son sentiment, and this appears in the flashback portion, when the mother is introduced. The director wanted a song with divine syllables and suggested Pattinathar's Meignana Pulambal, from which we took five verses to compose as a song. We were looking for a singer who could capture the divinity and strength of the lines in their vocals.
He further stated, “I kept hearing many voices for two months, but couldn't find any that would suit this song. I stumbled upon Aishwarya's voice on Facebook, and in trying to find out more about her, I learnt that she is MS's great-granddaughter. When we approached her, she was particular that she cannot sing a song with inappropriate lines and asked for the lyrics. We reassured her saying that this was a Pattinathar song and explained the situation, and got her to sing”. The directed closed his statement revealing that the movie was originally made as a short movie.
