Kishwer Merchantt Says She Wants To Play A Lesbian On Screen 'Now That Our Society Has Approved Of It'
Kishwer Merchantt Wanted To Play A Lesbian On Screen
Kishwer Merchantt is on the brink of motherhood and seems to be enjoying her pregnancy at 40 every bit she can. The actress has been around for over two decades now, got talking about her career choices recently, and expressed her wish to play a lesbian on screen someday.
The actress was asked in a chat with ETimes if she felt she could have done more in her career spanning 23 years and the actress replied: “Not really. From playing a doctor to a vamp to a lawyer to a 'Bramharakshas', I've done it all. Yeah, I wanted to play a lesbian but that didn't happen.”
Elaborating more on her interest to play a homosexual character on-screen she added, “It would be something new and yeah, so it would be challenging. And now that our society has approved of it, I think it would be worthwhile to play this character, say, after a few years. Such roles are going to be around in the near future.”
Kishwer, who has done everything from comedy to crime on TV also said that she never hoped to become an actress in films in all these years as she realized she didn’t have a ‘Bollywood face’ and wasn’t good at dancing.
Post-pregnancy Kishwer hopes to resume work only a year after her baby’s birth.
Kishwer has been acting since 1997 when she appeared in the Mukesh Khanna starrer Shaktiman and went on to do popular shows like Hip Hip Hurray, Kkavyanjali, Kasamh Se and Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. She later went on to gain recognition for being a part of Salman Khan hosted Bigg Boss 9.
