Mahira Khan has had a very small career in Bollywood. She was fantastic in her debut Bollywood film, Raees. But sadly, that has become her only Bollywood film after a ban on Pakistani artists was imposed by India after the relationship between the two nations soured. While there was much doubt whether her role in the film will be shortened or not, it became pretty clear that she was an indispensable part of it.

But Mahira's popularity in India is not because of Raees. She has been very popular already much before the film released early in 2017. And it is majorly because of her serial that used to be aired on Zindagi channel, Humsafar! She had been a part of many Pakistani serials and films. 1. Humsafar

This is the serial that made Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan a popular name in India. Mahira played the character of Khirad Ehsaan. She is simple and innocent, but with a strong sense of self-respect. She even decided to stay away from her husband when he refused to believe in her and does to come to her when she needs him the most. But she also forgave him once he genuinely realized his mistake. Mahira was very convincing and played her part well.

2. Shehr-e-Zaat

The serial was about the rich girl Falak, who is lost in her world of dreams. She is blinded by wealth, is removed from reality and pursues the only one man she thinks she had been dreaming about all her life. Her character had complexities and vulnerabilities at the same time and to essay such a character with immense internal dilemma required a very talented actress. Mahira Khan made Falak look believable and made the audiences despise her and be sympathetic to her at the same time. It was one of her best performances till date!

3. Bin Roye Anshoo

It was a first of its kind film turned drama series. The film had been good, and so was the serialized form. Mahira Khan played the character of Saba, who is laced with manifolds of emotion. She loves Irtiza but also wants him and his eldest sister Saman to be happy. She sacrifices her happiness for their sake. She is also guilt-stricken when Saman dies. Not just did Mahira perfectly capture each emotion that Saba goes through, but she also plays the character with ease!

4. Neeyat

The serial tried to capture the lives of Pakistanis who live in the US and what their trials and tribulations in order to acquire a green card. While the story mainly revolves around Sikki, Aaila also has a major part. She is the one who convinced her love to marry someone else so that he could get a green card. Later on, when she realises that maybe she is lo longer Sikki's love, she tries to get over it. She is stuck in a dilemma on whether or not to move on and marry Ismail despite being still in love with Sikki. She was good in the serial.

5. Sadqay Tumhare

Sadqay Tumhare was one of the initial serials that Mahira Khan did. The story is common and while the serial could be passed on, you must watch it for how Mahira portrayed the transition of the character she played, Shano. As the serial progress, she can be seen getting mentally stronger, and as usual, it is a delight to watch Mahira!
