Even though 2019 has turned out to be a largely good year for Bollywood with a record count of 100 Crore Club films and an average of at least one major success every month, there are also a few films that emerged as a disappointment commercially. Let's take a look at 10 such films.

Kalank - 81 crores

Kalank was set up as a magnum opus. With a stellar cast leading the show and a bottomless budget to boast of, the film was meant to be a true vintage style multi-starrer. With the kind of promotional and marketing push that the film received, it opened quite well too. However, the downfall came soon after as the subject as well as content was rejected by one and all.

Pagalpanti - 33.01 crores

This one was expected to be a laugh-a-minute affair which would have audiences in splits right through the narrative. Even though the film catered to the family audiences, neither them nor youth were enticed enough to step in theaters. A major reason for that was the film's promo that didn't really appeal across a large segment. By the time the news spread, it was too late.

Panipat - 32.62 crores

Yet another period film that turned out to be a major flop at the box office was Panipat. Ashutosh Gowariker returned to making a war drama with the legendary tale of the great battle of Panipat. Set at a huge scale with a grand canvas to boast of, the film in fact received reasonably good reviews too. However, the audiences weren't enticed enough and that took it down.

Jabariya Jodi - 16.33 crores

A decent enough entertainer that deserved to do better, Jabariya Jodi saw change in plan for its release date just when it was about to hit the screens. Moreover, it came way too close to the release of Mission Mangal and Batla House. Audiences had quite a few choices that were made available to them and as a result it was Jabariya Jodi that turned out to be a casualty.

Khaandaani Shafakhaana - 3.83 crores

Chances are that not many would have even heard the name of this film. However, with Sonakshi Sinha in lead and Baadshah facing the camera as well, it did boast of certain credentials at least. Not that audiences were interested as after a poor promo, the follow up was hardly there either when it came to the film's promotion. Result? An out and out rejected film all over.

Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas - 7.95 crores

With Sunny Deol launching his son Karan Deol, there were good expectations from this romantic musical drama. The film did boast of good music but then there were a few changes in release plans. By the time it hit the screens, there were many other films in the running as well that impacted the visibility. There were moments in there though that went unnoticed.

Sonchiriya - 6.60 crores

Clearly a case of very poor marketing and release strategy that went against the film, Sonchiriya went totally unnoticed. In fact hardly anyone even knew about the release of the film. Further damage was done by the fact that this Abhishek Chaubey directed film was not even in Hindi. No wonder Sushant Singh Rajput cried foul as the film met with a disastrous response.

Prasthanam - 4.75 crores

It has been rather poor luck for Sanjay Dutt as Prasthanam, which boasted of his best act ever since his return to the big screen, wasn't even promoted properly. Ironically, the film was produced by Sanjay Dutt himself and hence one just wonders why there wasn't a better hold over the manner in which the volatole dramatic affair was released. This one deserved better.

Laal Kaptaan - 2.36 crores

A delayed film, Laal Kaptaan could as well have seen a straight-to-digital release. Though Saif Ali Khan led the show in this period drama that was backed by Aanand L. Rai, the film didn't make any sort of buzz whatsoever en route release. The promotional strategy of the film was out of the box, but largely unimpressive, and that had a telling on the box office fortunes too.

The Body - 3.44 crores

Another delayed film, The Body could well have turned out to be yet another impressive suspense thriller after this year's Badla. However, there was no buzz whatsoever around this Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor starrer that virtually came unannounced. With the content not quite finding favor amongst critics as well as audience, The Body disappeared sooner than expected.
