Taapsee Pannu explains why she is more like Rumi from Manmarziyaan than Rani of Haseen Dillruba
Taapsee: I am more of Rumi from Manmarziyaan than Rani
One of the most talented and versatile actresses of the Hindi film industry, the gorgeous Taapsee Pannu has portrayed many different characters on-screen in her 11 year long career. The latest in the list is Rani Kashyap of Haseen Dillruba-- a bold, fiery woman who settles down with a man who is ‘average’ in her opinion. Even though the character is flawed with shades of grey, there is something about the way Taapsee has played the role that makes you want to root for her.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the actress shared that she has portrayed flawed characters in films like Manmarziyaan and Badla as well. However, Rani was a completely different grain. She explained that the only thing common between Rani and Taapsee is that they are from Delhi. Taapsee explained, “I am not this person who uses sensuality for herself. I do not have that 'ada' (style). I am not someone who is going to intimidate my man to get my way.”
Taapsee went on to add, “I am more of Rumi (from Manmarziyan) than Rani. And, I am not this mushy. This idea of romanticising the idea of love does not come naturally to me. I am the most non-romantic person, in all my relationships, my man has always been more romantic than me.” The actress further shared that Rani made her aware of her sexuality and sensuality, which she was unaware of and never used in her professional or personal life.
Up next, Taapsee has a long list of exciting projects which will feature her in different roles. We can’t wait to see her shine on-screen again soon!
