Shahid Kapoor And Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra To Collaborate For A Film On Mahabharat’s Karna?
Shahid-Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra To Collaborate ?
Shahid Kapoor has proved that he is one of the most bankable stars when he delivered a blockbuster last year with Kabir Singh. He has shown his talent and range in his career with numerous films and nuanced performances. Now, as he is all set to resume the shoot for Jersey remake once the lockdown is over, it looks like he is already in talks for yet another film. This time, he might be collaborating with Rakesh Omprakash Mehra with whom he wanted to collaborate since last year.
According to a report in Koimoi, the two might work together for a film based on Mahabharat’s Karna. The film would have a modern day spin to the character. A source was quoted saying, “It won’t be a period-drama but will have a contemporary twist to it. Shahid is yet to sign on the dotted line, but the conversation on the subject is on. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is also in talks with certain studios to collaborate on the project with him.”
Writer Kamlesh Pandey, with whom the director collaborates frequently, shed some more light on the idea and explained, “Karna had always been an exciting subject for us, and I had even shared an idea with Rakeysh on it a while ago. However, there are so many other characters from the epic that are also very interesting. So I am not sure which one will be taken forward. This is one of the subjects that we have been toying with, but there are others too.”
Earlier this year, the director had confirmed that he is indeed in talks with Shahid for a film. In an interview, he had said, "Shahid and I really want to do a film together. He’s such a fabulous actor and someone I feel I would have so much fun working with. With him, it’s like finding a DNA match. Conversations are on and I think we will be able to reach a common point if things work out.”
It would be super interesting to see Rakesh Omprakash Mehra and Shahid come together, that too for a subject like this, isn’t it?
