Shabana Azmi Shares What Changes Can Be Made In Arth Remake
Mahesh Bhatt’s 1982 drama Arth is considered to be one of the finest films ever made in Indian cinema. Many would also term it as a ‘must watch’. Starring Shabana Azmi and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in lead roles and Smita Patil, Raj Kiran and Rohini Hattangadi in supporting cast, the film followed the story of Pooja, who finds her true identity and a new meaning to life after being deserted by her husband Inder for another woman. Much to our delight, the classic is reportedly being remade by Tamil actress Revathi.
The remake will be produced by Sharat Chandra, who recently revealed that Bobby Deol will reprise Kulbhushan Kharbanda's role. It was also said that Shabana, who portrayed the role of Pooja in the original, will be providing inputs to the new project. However, in a recent chat with Spotboye the actress denied rumors about her involvement. She stated that she does not know the details of the upcoming project and believes that an important film such as Arth has said what it had to say. She stated, “If anything it only shows how timeless a cult film can be.”
