Satte Pe Satte Remake: Farah Khan's Ambitious Project Shelved, Is Getting Copyright the Issue?

Farah Khan had announced the ambitious Satte Pe Satta remake. A story of seven brothers, who get better and more civilised after the elder brother's wife enters the household, this had been a huge hit back in the days and find viewers even now when it's aired on TV. The project sounded perfect, however, it now seems that the film has been shelved.

Satte Pe Satte Remake: Farah Khan's Ambitious Project Shelved, Is Getting Copyright the Issue?

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, one of the major reasons for that is copyright issues. A source said, "Back in 1982 Raj Sippy made an unofficial remake of Stanley Donen’s Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. But now with the copyright rules being so rigid, it would be difficult do Satte Pe Satta without the relevant legal permission.”

That's not all, Farah has faced setback even during the casting for the film. She had apparently approached Hrithik Roshan who kept her hanging for quite some time before opting out of the film. The reason seems to be the fact that he does not want to be a part of another Amitabh Bachchan starrer's remake. Then, Akshay Kumar was approached for the role of Ravi and even Shah Rukh Khan was in talks. However, both the stars couldn't apparently give their nods, leaving Farah with not much option but to put it on the backburner!
