Khalnayak Sequel, Kalicharan Remake On Cards
The Hindi film industry has always been inspired by other films. The culture of remakes had been long prevalent, but now it has become rampant. Not just that, we are also having sequels and franchises that have become a rage in the industry. In such times, director Subhash Ghai has decided to try his hand at both remake and sequel. But he is not going to anyone else for inspiration. He has chosen two of his super successful films and is going to make a sequel of one and a remake of the other. The films we are talking about are Sanjay Dutt starrer Khalnayak and Shatrughan Sinha starrer Kalicharan.
Khalnayak was a huge hit when it released and now, brace yourself for the sequel of this Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit film. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, the director said that the sequel will begin with Ballu, which was played by Sanjay Dutt in 1993, ‘coming out of the prison’. He also said that the sequel will not have Sanjay Dutt, but will feature a younger villain.
Talking about Kalicharan, which happens to be Subhash Ghai’s directorial debut, he said that the film was initially turned down by producers but was such a huge hit when it released, that it was remade in several other languages. He said, “It’s a gripping screenplay, the plot will be the same but the treatment will be very new-age.” He also added that a few youngstars have shown interest in the remake because of the contrasting characters.
