Sajid Nadiadwala Reveals Salman Khan Was Getting Married In 1999 On The Same Day As Him, Backed Out 6 Days Before

Salman Khan’s aversion to marriage has been headlined over the years several times. The Bollywood superstar has dated some popular actresses in the past including Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif but never really settled down with any of them. Now that the question of Salman’s wedding has taken a backseat, his friend and Housefull 4 producer Sajid Nadiadwala revealed that the 53-year-old actor had actually come really close to being married two decades ago in 1999.

Present on The Kapil Sharma Show to promote his Diwali release Housefull 4 with the cast of the film, Sajid revealed that Salman backed out of the wedding nearly a week ahead of the D-day.  On the show, Nadiadwala said, “Salman had gotten an attack in 1999 of getting married. He already had a girl, I had to find one for myself. Salman’s father’s birthday is on November 18, so we had decided to tie the knot on the same date. Everything was set, even cards were sent out. Just six or five days before the due date, he said ‘I don’t have the mood’. After changing his mind, he came on stage during my marriage and whispered in my ears. ‘There is a car outside, take it and run away’.”

Salman was rumoured to be dating actress Aishwarya Rai in the same year their romance sparked off on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam that released in the same year. There have always been reports claiming that Salman came really close to marrying actress Sangeeta Bijlani and we wonder if it is her Sajid Nadiadwala was referring to. Though the two of them remain go friends even today, we wonder what happened that put Salman Khan off marriage for good?
