Pearl V Puri To Be Shifted To Jail After COVID Test Tomorrow
Naagin 3 actor Pearl V Puri was arrested on 5th June after being accused of rape and molestation of a minor. Reports suggested that in 2019 the 17 year old accompanied her actress mother to the sets of a TV show, where Pearl allegedly asked her for sexual favours and promised her a career in the TV industry. A case has been registered against him under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Pearl is in judicial custody for 14 days and will be shifted to the Thane jail tomorrow after undergoing a test for novel coronavirus. In a report shared by ETimes, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil was quoted saying, “Anyone who is arrested has to undergo a COVID-19 test. Pearl V Puri will also undergo a RT-PCR test and if it is negative, he will be shifted to Thane jail tomorrow. Right now, he is at the Waliv Police station.”
Reacting to Ekta Kapoor’s social media post, in which she revealed that the victim’s mother has openly said Pearl was not involved, the DCP stated that the victim narrated the incident and there is evidence. He went on to add, “The father of the girl had filed the complaint initially in Versova Police Station and then it was transferred to Waliv Police Station. The mother was acting in a TV show and the victim used to accompany her mother on the set. We have arrested Pearl on the basis of a particular incident that the victim shared with us.”
In her post, Ekta had shared that she was in touch with the victim’s mother, who claimed that her husband was trying to create stories to keep their child and prove that a working mother on a set cannot take care of her kid. Many television celebrities have come out in support of Pearl.
