Music Director Sajid Khan Changes His Last Name To Wajid After His Late Brother: My Name Is Sajid Wajid & That’s How It Will Be

Music Director Sajid Khan has decided to change his surname from Khan to his late brother’s name Wajid. The two brothers together formed the musical duo Sajid Wajid who have been responsible for some of the popular albums attached to Bollywood films.

Wajid Khan died at 42 after being admitted in the hospital due to Covid-19 complications while he was already suffering from kidney-related ailments. Sajid has fondly been remembering him through all he does since he died in June 2020. The composer now wishes to call himself Sajid Wajid.

The music director made this revelation during an interview with Times Of India, “I don’t want people to call me Sajid Khan, so I have adopted Wajid as my surname. Now, my name is Sajid Wajid and that’s how it will be till the end. So what if he isn’t physically present, I feel his presence all the time. I have started composing tunes I never thought I would and I think it’s because of him. I feel that Wajid is with me during those times,” he said.

Sajid also said that him Wajid and their brother Javed have always been very close and would never let anything come between them ever. Recalling the time when his brother was ill and in the hospital he added, “I was so close to Wajid that I met him in the ICU wearing the PPE kit much against everyone’s advice.”

Sajid Wajid have given music to some of the most popular films in Bollywood including Dabangg, Ek Tha Tiger, Main Tera Hero, Rowdy Rathore, Housefull 2 and several others.
