Arijit Singh's Mother Succumbs To Covid-19 In Kolkata, Weeks After SOS Calls Were Raised On Social Media For Plasma
Arijit Singh's Mother Succumbs To Covid-19
Popular singer Arijit Singh’s mother lost her battle to Covid-19, two weeks after posts went viral on social media looking for plasma donors for her in Kolkata. She was admitted in a hospital in the city and was in a critical condition after contracting the deadly disease. According to an India Today report, Arijit’s mother breathed her last on Thursday 11 AM.
The singer keeps a low profile on social media, but an SOS call for assistance was raised by actress Swastika Mukherjee earlier in May. "Need A- blood for singer Arijit Singh's mother, admitted in Amri Dhakuria. Need it today. Pls contact @swatihihihi with verified MALE DONORS," she had written in her post on Twitter. The call was further amplified by other celebrities and influencers on social media.
The singer had thanked the Covid-19 frontline warriors in a post shortly before his mother’s health became a subject of headlines. In a Facebook post he had written, "Salute to those who are fighting Covid-19 from the front but apart from them the way you all are helping each other with food, oxygen, beds etc, so much love from me.”
"I request you all who are eligible to donate blood plasma. A lot of people especially those with thalassemia are fighting with life right now. This is all we can do for them," he had added. Convalescent plasma therapy therapy was dropped from prescribed treatment in India earlier this week.
Our deepest condolences to Arijit Singh and his family for their immeasurable loss.
