‘83: Kapil Dev will join Ranveer Singh for promotions
Back in February 2019 when the final cast of Kabir Khan’s sports drama ‘83 was announced, fans were over the moon with joy! They eagerly waited for the film to release to revisit the proud moment when India won its first Cricket World Cup title in 1983. Sadly, the film which will see Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, who was the captain in 1983, could not release as planned due to the outbreak of coronavirus and the subsequent lockdowns. However, now that theatres are open again, fans are hoping for makers to set a date.
Well according to a report shared by Spotboye, Kapil has also agreed to be a part of the promotions of the film, but in limited capacity. A source was quoted saying, “Kapil Paaji went through a health issue in October 2020. He was advised to take it easy. The ‘83 producers, Reliance Entertainment and Kabir Khan are not too sure of how much they can fall back on the real Kapil and the publicity may just have to be shouldered by the on-screen Kapil.”
After Akshay Kumar’s spy thriller Bell Bottom and Amitabh Bachchan-Emraan Hashmi starrer Chehre arrived on the big screen, buzz about the release dates of other stalled films began doing the rounds. It was reported that Akshay’s cop drama Sooryavanshi might premiere in October, whereas Ranveer’s ‘83 is expected to hit theatres in November.
Fingers crossed!
