10 Years of Delhi Belly: Director Abhinay Deo says using orange juice for the film wasn't the original plan- EXCLUSIVE
Abhinay Deo on why orange juice was used in Delhi Belly
It has been a decade since Delhi Belly released and it has become a cult. This was a film that changed how we looked at Indian films and created something raw, something new. One thing that this film definitely ruined for a lot of us is orange juice. If you have seen the film, you would know exactly what we are talking about. Now, in an exclusive interview with us, director Abhinay Deo had revealed that using orange juice was not the original plan.
In a chat with us, Abhinay Deol revealed, "A lot of people have told me that we've not had oranges since we have seen your film. By the way, just to let you know, it was not meant to be orange juice. In the film, it was meant to be one of the aerated drinks."
So how did it end up with orange juice. Deo said, "We approached coco-cola and said, 'hey listen, this is what we are doing and we want to use coke', and they said 'okay you know, get out of the office right now. If you want to use coke on to wash somebody's arse then we are not interested.' We went to Pepsi and they said the same thing. Finally, we had to create our own juice. Orange juice- because it was easier to do. So it was orange juice."
Well, now we know. Have you had orange juice after watching Delhi Belly? Let us know in the comments.
