Here's Why Rajinikanth’s Kabali Is Yet Another Sultan On Its Way
A Rajinikanth release across the country (South India in particular) is by all means a gigantic event that fans direly wait for. Yes we know an appeal has already been made to all his fans to keep their calm and not do anything irrational in enthusiasm. But haven’t we already pictured Thalaiva fans pouring gallons of milk down his large cut outs when the film releases this Friday? Of course we have, that’s a tradition.
While people across the Tamil region are sure to make this release the biggest event of the year, there is no reason why this Rajini starrer gangster drama is a low key affair in rest of the country. What Sultan was to Bhai’s fans, Kabali is 10 times more to Rajini’s fans. If a Hindi movie seeker doesn’t find any reason to watch Kabali in a theater this Friday, maybe he needs to expand his range of cinema as an audience.
As the much anticipated film hits theaters this Friday in all respective dubbed languages, here's why we think the film is yet another record breaker on its way:
The Build Up/Anticipation
You want to know the process of creating an unparalleled hype around a movie? Turn South! The filmmakers/producers across the region are so passionate and possessive about their works that they’re not even comfortable sharing the trailer of the film. Kabali doesn’t have a trailer and it didn’t need one either. When the makers are too sure of the audiences turning up for the movie, they have played well by revealing virtually nothing about the movie. The film has been in the making for over a year and has made enough headlines in the period.
While some analysts believe the Hindi version of the film hasn’t well been promoted, the focus undeniably hovers around the Tamil region alone.
The Larger Than Life Setting
For the first time ever in his supremely reigning stardom filled journey, superstar Rajini would be seen sporting a white beard acknowledging his age. The actor plays a gangster as the title suggests and will be seen crushing some bones in the film. Did you miss the young version of the actor in the teaser where he is seen storming out of somewhere? Want to bet a million bucks on fans going crazy when the scene appears on the big screen?
The Return of Thalaiva
As hard as it gets to believe, but Rajinikanth’s last two films ended up entailing losses for its distributors. While Lingaa that came out in 2014 wasn’t particularly accepted by the masses unanimously, Kochadaiiyan that apparently was a photorealistic motion capture film couldn’t get the desired result either. The actor hence gave a lot of thought to picking projects that suited to his persona. With Kabali, he looks in his element and it has every chance of being yet another Baahubali on celluloid in terms of reception.
We’ve seen the fans going crazy for Sultan already, let’s see what Kabali does to the ticket counters. Like we mentioned, what Sultan was to Bhai fans, Kabali is 10 times more to Thalaiva fans!
