18 Facts About Game Of Thrones Arya Stark AKA Maisie Williams!

Thanks to Arya Stark, portrayed by Maisie Williams, Game of Thrones has been an edge of the seat drama. From portraying an unconventional lead to demonstrating her sword dance, Arya Stark has been a treat to watch. 

We all know enough about Arya Stark from the show, but we don't know much about the actress Maisie Williams. Let's look at some fun trivia about the 21-year-old actor.

1. She made her acting debut in the HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones in 2011, at the ripe age of 12!

The show gave her a lot of critical acclaims and she has even won a lot of awards, including the Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor. She also became the youngest actor to win the Portal Award in the "Best Supporting Actor" category.

2. Her real name is Margaret Constance.

However, she prefers Maisie, after her favourite character from the comic strip The Perishers.

3. She is best friends with Sophie Turner and Isaac Hempstead Wright

The three of them play Arya, Sansa and Bran Stark respectively.

4. She has also been a series regular on the show Doctor Who.

She first guest starred in two episodes. However, she later returned in the episodes titles "Face the Raven" and "Hell Bent". She also appeared in the BBC series The Secret of Crickley Hall and also in a Funny or Die skit titled The Olympic Ticket Scalper.

5. Apart from TV, she has also appeared in a couple of films

She has acted in independent films like Heatstroke (2012), Gold (2013) and short films like Corvidae and Up on the Roof.

6. She is set to appear in X Men in 2018!

Maisie has been roped to play Wolfsbane in the film The New Mutants, which will come out in 2018.

7. Aside from acting, she loves to dance!

Dancing is Maisie's first love. No wonder she is pretty good at it!

8. She is quite close to her character in real life.

In the show, she plays a rebellious and head strong girl who refuses to be boxed according ton people's expectations. In real life too, she despises being boxed and tries to stray away from being stereotyped.

9. She is dating Ollie Jackson since 2015

She met her boyfriend in school and made her relationship public with an Instagram post on Valentines Day in 2017.

10. She had to become left-handed for Game of Thrones

Maisie's mother had read the book A Song of Fire and told her that Arya is actually left handed. Not afraid of challenges, she practiced writing and fighting with her left hand. Despite little discrepancies, she tried to stay true to her character.

11. She cannot stand the violence on the show

Time and again, Maisie detests the graphic content on the show. She loathes to watch the gory content and often covers her eyes during shots.

12. She is empathetic towards animals

Not only a humanitarian, she also tries to project the violence faced by animals. She has been an active member in an organization known as The Dolphin Project, where the focus is to educated the masses about the dangers dolphins face.

13. She confessed that she has not read the book series on which the show is based on.

During one of her interviews, she confessed that she has not read George RR Martin's fantasy series till date, mainly due to the gory content. 

14. She adores Audrey Hepburn

She loves Hepburn's sense of style and has made her love clear for the legendary actor. She even exclaimed that her eyebrows are pretty similar to Hepburn's.

15. She is also a Social Media Star!

She has an impressive Twitter following of 1 million and she was also a successful Vine star, regularly uploading hilarious antics. However, she stopped using Vine because of the racism and sexism existing on the platform.

16. Maisie dropped out of school at the age of 14.

Between choosing her career and education, she chose the former and had her parents support for it. Her parents confessed that it is a rare opportunity to travel the world and meet lots of different people, something which Maisie couldn't resist.

17. She has made her presence felt on the web too!

She is set to star in the Netflix show, titled 'iBoy'. She also starred in the documentary Cyberbully, for which she received immense recognition. She has also appeared in the video clip of Oceans by the band Seafret, where too the theme was bullying.

18. Her sun sign is Aries

She was born on 15th April, 1997. Aries girls are known to be independent and can't handle mean people. Quite close to Arya Stark!
