After a Bollywood actor or actress attain a certain level of stardom, the next obvious for them is to turn producer. Being a successful actor in the industry means you are getting all the offers from top production houses and directors while at the same time leading brands are queuing up to sign you to promote their products. The celebs can charge astronomical sums for small campaigns while they can also ask for backend cuts of the profits their films make at the box-office.
Being a successful star gives you the choice to dictate your terms in different business deals and that also helps in bringing in more money to these stars. As a producer, stars can make the projects they always wished and also promote new talent. They make small-budgeted films which earn a lot at the box-office which in turn gives them more money to finance other projects. Amitabh Bachchan: The legendary actor launched his production company in the 90s which had a few big projects in its hands but by the turn of the new millennium, the company went bankrupt and was later on, shut down.
Suneil Shetty: He launched his production house in the early 2000s by the name of Popcorn Entertainment Ltd. and produced a few films. But, it was a failed venture and was soon shut down.
Ameesha Patel: She opened her production house by the name of Ameesha Patel Productions and even threw a grand party in 2011 but later on, the company was shut down as none of the projects could take off.
Rajpal Yadav: The actor launched his production house by the name of Shree Naurang Godavari Entertainment Ltd. which produced his film Ata Pata Lapata which failed at the box-office and the company was shut down.
Manisha Koirala: She produced Paisa Vasool under her banner Manisha Koirala Moving Images which starred her and Sushmita Sen. The film was a flop and the company was shut down.
SRK-Juhi Chawla: They launched a production house named Dreamz Unlimited which produced a couple of films which flopped at the box -office. It was shut down an, later on, SRK revamped it as Red Chillies Entertainment Ltd.
