The business of films at the box office still remains a mystery after all these years. Every Friday, a number of films gamble at the box office to get maximum footfalls from the audiences and hope to turn into a profitable venture if people like it. A number of Directors in Bollywood often bear the brunt of the audience's ignorance and critical views by leading film reviewers.
Yet, some of them remain unfazed and just concentrate on their craft and have often made films that have gone on to become big hits. Here are 10 Bollywood directors who gave a huge hit after a huge flop:
Abbas-Mustan: The popular director duo gave a flop with Daraar in 1996 but came back strongly with Bobby Deol starrer Soldier that turned out to be a Superhit.
Homi Adajania: The director gave a flop with Being Cyrus in 2006 but gave a huge hit with Cocktail in 2012.
Rohit Shetty: The popular director gave a rare flop with Sunday in January 2008 but redeemed himself the same year with a huge hit in Golmaal Returns.
Farhan Akhtar: The Hrithik Roshan starrer Lakshya in 2004 directed by him was a flop but he came back strongly with Don in 2006 that turned out to be a big hit.
Imtiaz Ali: He debuted in Bollywood with box office flop Socha Na Tha in 2005 but gave a hit film titled Jab We Met in 2007.
Anurag Basu: He directed Kites in 2010 which was a box-office disaster but redeemed himself with the poetic Barfi in 2012 that turned out to be a super hit.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali: He gave a box office disaster in Guzaarish in 2010 but redeemed himself with Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer Ramleela in 2013.
Ashutosh Gowariker: He directed the box office flop Baazi in 1995 starring Aamir Khan but in his next film he gave one of the best films of Indian Cinema, Lagaan in 2001.
David Dhawan: The comedy director gave a box office flop with Shaadi No. 1 in 2005 but gave a super hit with Partner in 2007 as his next.
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra: He gave a box office flop with Delhi 6 in 2009 but gave a super hit with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in 2013.
