Angrezi Medium Day 1 Box-Office: Despite Coronavirus Scare And Theatre Shutdown, Irrfan Khan Starrer Collects Rs. 4.03 Crores

Irrfan Khan ‘s Angrezi MNedium released yesterday in theatres. But even before the release, this film seems to be caught in the scare create by the coronavirus pandemic. The film had released in UAE and the advance tickets had been booked from Wednesday. Therefore, it could not be pulled back when the Delhi government gave orders of a shut ndown of theatres in the capital from Thursday night. The film already lost a major contributor to its biz. Mumbai theatres too had a shutdown from Friday night. And yet, Angrezi Medium made respectable collection on Day 1.

On the first day, the Irrfan Khan, Radhika Madan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepak Dobriyal starrer pocketed Rs. 4.03 crores on Friday. The film suffered because of the coronavirus scare even where it released.

With more theatres closing down till 31^st March, the makers have decided to re-release the film when the situation is under control. The director of the film, Homi Adjania has written in his Insta story, “At midnight all theaters will be close across India till authorities give us further notice. We will re-release #AngreziMedium when it is safe to do so. Till then stay safe and be kind to each other. #johaisohai.”
