Here's How Bollywood is About To Ruin Coldplay Concert For Us
So it has happened. Our lifelong dream of watching our favourite musical heroes is a reality now after it was confirmed that Coldplay will descend upon India.
As the news was confirmed, details started to emerge.
First off, it was announced that this won't be a usual concert. As Coldplay, who are dedicated to a lot of humaniatarian causes, will perform as a part of Global Citizen initiative, to eradicate poverty by 2030. The initiative will also focus on issues of sanitation, education and gender equality.
But we were fine with it. Because A: it was truly for a good cause; B: COLDPLAY WAS STILL COMING.
Though, soon enough more details came forward. Like lot of Bollywood stars and politicians are also joining hands with the inititative.
But we were still okay with it. Because A: it was truly for a good cause; B: COLDPLAY WAS STILL COMING.
But then this appeared:
At first glance, the line-up does look awesome. I mean, there's Coldplay and Jay-Z and our own greats like A.R. Rahman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Even Arijit Singh is a good choice. So is Monali Thakur. But what about the rest?
For starters, WTF is Dia Mirza doing on the artist list. No offense, but if she is planning a comeback, this is so not the time or the place.
We get that Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor can Rock On!! but what is Arjun Kapoor doing here? He doesn't even have an upcoming movie to promote right now. Same goes for Kareena Kapoor. Can't they have Ki & Ka reunion somewhere else? Anywhere else.
Which explains why Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh are on the list. Sure, they are good actors but to utilise the holy stage where Coldplay will perform to promote their upcoming movies (Dangal and Befikre) is a stupid sin.
There is also Katrina Kaif on the list. Oh the humanity! Isn't it enough that she is winning the acting awards right now but now this? Sorry, we don't want Sheila or Chameli or any Kala Chashma at the time we should be basking in the glory of real music.
Dear Bollywood, we love you. But please don't ruin our dreams.
