4 Bollywood Actors Who Can Perfectly Portray Kapil Dev In His Biopic
2016 saw two of the major cricketing biopics seeing the light of the day and both were poles apart in terms of casting. While Sushant Singh Rajput with his magical portrayal of M.S. Dhoni proved no one could have pulled it off better, Emraan Hashmi gave a hard time to the audience to prepare themselves seeing him as Azharuddin.
However, there’s another legendary cricketer who holds enough credit in his profile to have a biopic under his name. We are taking about Kapil Dev! One of the finest all-rounders the game ever saw, Kapil Paaji led team India to its maiden world cup victory back in 1983. The ex-Indian skipper hailing from Haryana has seen much ups and downs in his career. From being hailed as a national hero to a match fixing traitor, there’s enough he has seen to warrant a biopic.
On this thought we figured who all could really play him on screen if a biopic was really going to be made on him. Here we are with our four choices who we believe can replicate Kapil Dev’s persona on the big screen:
Randeep Hooda
Not just because he too comes from the state of Haryana, Randeep Hooda has the kind of element needed to give Kapil Dev’s journey enough life on screen. Not only is he totally performance driven, his physical built could really make good reasons for him to play him on screen.
Arjun Kapoor
While he was earlier being speculated to really play him on screen in a film based on India’s victory in 1983 world cup, only god knows whatever happened to the project. However still, Arjun Kapoor does have the strength and potential to essay Kapil Dev on screen. And since he has never done a biopic, how about he starts off with this one?
Vicky Kaushal
Born as a Punjabi, Vicky Kaushal is tall, raw and above all a fine performer to carry off this challenge. If he could carry himself as typical Banarsi lad in Masaan despite being an urban Punjabi, there’s little doubt he will mess this one up. His sporting interests and emotional connect can indeed fill the story with substance.
Ayushmann Khurrana
While he is happy, chirpy and vibrant as a Punjabi boy from Chandigarh, he would have closely observed Kapil Dev while growing up. Ayushmann can also bring in the much needed emotional depth to the character and there’s no two ways about it. He also fancies cricket a lot and that makes him a worthy contender to play Kapil Dev if ever a biopic gets made under his name.
