Kalki Koechlin Says The Award Will Make People Stop Questioning Her 'Desiness'
Kalki Koechlin was given the Special Jury Award at the 63rd National Awards for her role in 'Margarita, With A Straw'. Kalki played the role of a young girl with cerebral palsy. The film narrates her journey as she explores her sexuality.
Kalki says, "It was an important film for me. I learnt a lot as an actor and a human being. The amount of practice I had to do for that film was incredible. It just shows that how much more work we can put into every film."
The actress who was dressed in a Sabyasachi sari while the National Awards ceremony feels the award is extremely important for her.
"It's a really big deal for me. I think this is the most prestigious award you can get as an actor in this country. It makes me feel more 'desi'. I feel like people will stop questioning my 'desiness', says Kalki.
The actress will now be seen in Anu Menon's 'Waiting' next to Nasseruddin Shah.
