Which brings us to the multi-talented, dynamic professionals who are capable of two of the most challenging jobs in the filmmaking process: directing and music composing.

1. Kishore Kumar

The ultimate multi-tasker could nearly perform all the duties in the filmmaking process, right from writing to singing. It is of no surprise then that he could direct movies and make the songs too.

2. Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Starting his career with directing films, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has slowly ventured into music directing. He has served as the primary music director in Saawariya and Goliyon Ki Leela Ram-Leela.

3. Shirish Kunder

The film director, editior, producer and lyricist also has made music for his own direction, Tees Maar Khan.

4. Satyajit Ray

Probably the person with the most eclectic person to ever grace Indian films, Satyajit Ray did all kinds of things throughout his career--be it fiction writing or graphic designing. So it is of no surprise that the acclaimed director had a pretty successful career as a music director.

5. Vishal Bhardwaj

While all of are enamoured by his incredible body of work as a director, we sometimes forget that he started off as a music director (something that he still continues to do for his own movies).
