The 2015 film ‘Chappie’ told the story of a reprogrammed law enforcement robot in South Africa, voiced by Sharlto Copley. The film also starred Sigourney Weaver who, despite the mixed reviews, feels that the movie was quite meaningful. The actress shared that she feels astonished when she reads ‘disappointing Chappie’.

According to Collider, “I'm astonished when I read the 'disappointing Chappie'. If you're expecting a big movie with huge special effects instead of this small movie about this robot who the inventor changes to be more of a human being than the human beings, then you realise that all of those reviews that said, 'Well, there's no special effects' It's like no”, said Weaver. She added, “This is a very meaningful movie about a young robot who cares and feels, and is much more human”.

The 66-year-old actress also stated that people mostly talk about what the film was not, when in fact they should be talking about what it was. ‘Chappie’ also starred Hugh Jackman, Yolandi Visser and Dev patel, along with Sharlto and Sigourney. The ‘Avatar’ actress is currently working with ‘Chappie’ director Neill Blomkamp for ‘Alien 5’.
