Rooney Mara And Joaquin Phoenix To Star In Mary Magdalene

Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are coming together in director Garth Davis’ upcoming film Mary Magdalene. The film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tahar Rahim. Helen Edmundson and Philippa Goslett have penned the script for the flick.

 The story of the flick revolves around a young woman Mary Magdalene, played by Rooney Mara, who is searching for a new way to live. The movie narrates her authentic story with the belief that she was one of the most misunderstood spiritual figures. Going against her family, Mary joins a movement which is led by Jesus of Nazareth, played by Joaquin Phoenix. She finds herself at the right place and joins the movement that will take her to Jerusalem.

Recently, the film’s trailer was revealed showed Rooney looking serene and calm, whereas Joaquin Phoenix looking appropriate as Jesus Christ. The film is set to release in March 2018. Garth Davis earlier directed Lion, starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman which was appreciated across the world and also won several awards.
