Johnny Depp Taking Former Business Managers To Court
Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp has apparently sued his former business managers for a whopping $25 million stating 'gross misconduct'. The actor stated that he had to incur losses of 'tens of millions of dollars’. In response, the managers denied these allegations stating that this is a result of the actor’s ‘profligate' spending.
Depp sued The Mandel Co, The Management Group, Joel L. Mandel, Robert Mandel, First American Title Insurance Co. and 15 other unnamed defendants. He is asking for $25 million as compensation for the damages. The actor also added that to pay for the losses, he had to sell off some of his assets.
The statement given by attorney Matthew Kanny reads, “Mr. Depp is one of the most sought after and highly paid actors in the world. He is also the victim of the gross misconduct of his business managers - The Management Group and attorneys Joel and Robert Mandel - who collected tens of millions of dollars of contingent fees, purportedly based on an oral contract, all at Mr. Depp's expense”.
According to Variety.com, the law suit also includes professional negligence, negligent misrepresentation, fraud and unjust enrichment.
