Gangnam Style star wins an early American Music Award

Gangnam StyleSouth Korean rapper Psy has received an early 2012 American Music Awards (AMAs) thanks to the promo of his hit single which became the most popular video in YouTube history by receiving over 717 million views to date since its release in July this year.

The singer has been awarded the New Media accolade six days before the red carpet event here. By getting the early award he joined the league of previous honorees Karmin, DeStorm and Christina Grimmie, contactmusic reported. Psy will be presented with the award during the pre-show activities.
