Actor Dick Van Dyke, who played chimney sweeper Bert and bank chairman Mr. Dawes Senior in the American musical fantasy comedy film 'Mary Poppins', expressed his concern for his pathetic  cockney accent in the film. He complained to the ‘Mary Poppins’ team that nobody told him that his accent wasn’t up to the mark in the film. The 90-year-old actor was paired with Julie Andrews in the film.

While expressing his concern over his accent, the ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ actor said, "Someone should have told me I needed to work on my Cockney accent. Nearly everyone in the 'Mary Poppins' cast was a Brit (Britishers) but no one said anything". "I was given an Irish coach whose Cockney was much better than mine. Years later I asked Julie, 'Why didn't you tell me?' She said it was because I was working so hard," he added.

However, all of a sudden the news broke as the production house Walt Disney is prepping up to recreate the classic version in the form of 'Mary Poppins Returns'. In the film Emily Blunt will be essaying a lead role.  'Mary Poppins Returns' is slated to release on Christmas 2018.
