Will Talvar Work Over Singh Is Bling?

2^nd October, 2015 will show that truth has many faces.

‘Singh is Bling’ is all set to release on the same date along with the gripping Aarushi Talwar murder mystery ‘Talvar.’ The film has been directed by Meghna Gulzar and Written and produced by Vishal Bhardwaj. Where Talvar stars Konkana Sen Sharma, Irrfan Khan and Neeraj Kabi. Singh is Bling has a powerful star Akshay Kumar and all the ingredients of a perfect Bollywood drama.

Rajesh Thadani, Distributor and Exhibitor, says, “The two films belong to different genres and have separate audiences. Of course, Talvar has an edge because Vishal Bhardwaj’s name is associated with it.’’

It’s another big year for Producer Vishal Bhardwaj. Last year on the same date, his film Haider released alongside Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang. Haider went on to get critical appreciation and was a great success at the box office.

"Surprisingly for the second time in a row October 2, is having a clash of content and commerce. Talvar is pitted against a much bigger film Singh Is Bling, very much like the Haider and Bang Bang contest of last year. The appeal and the audience of these two films are completely different but increasingly good content films are scoring even at the box office now,’’ an industry observer points out.

Talvar is a content based film with a great star cast which looks promising. It remains one of the films which wins the  race in spirit but Singh is Bling runs on the commercial success formula. Going with the last year’s graph where Haider scored a moral victory over Bang Bang, Talvar stands a great chance.

Talvar, after doing rounds of film festivals in Toronto, London and Busan, will be releasing in India on 2nd October, 2015.
