Shah Rukh And Kajol’s Gerua Creates History
When one of Bollywood’s most loved on-screen couple, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, get together for a film, their inimitable romance is hard to miss. That became even more evident when ‘Gerua’, the first song released by Sony Music Entertainment from film-maker Rohit Shetty’s next, Dilwale, received a record 5 million views on YouTube in just 24 hours.
The music of Dilwale features a wide variety of genres, from key ballads to anthemic dance tracks.
Sung by singers Arijit Singh and Antara Mitra, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Sony Music has left no stone unturned to ensure the song reaches out to fans globally, and have also explored many marketing innovations.
In fact, ‘Gerua’ is the first Bollywood film number to have pre-booking across 100-plus stores on iTunes, and the first song to be made available on the same day across all audio platforms globally.
“To create a romantic song for SRK and Kajol — the greatest on-screen couple of our era — is not just a great honour, but also a big challenge and responsibility. I hope ‘Gerua’ lives up to it,” says music composer Pritam who has scored the music for Dilwale.
Shridhar Subramaniam from Sony Music adds, “We are committed to making Dilwale the biggest soundtrack not only in India, but in international markets as well. We have an aggressive India and overseas marketing campaign targeting the right segment to ensure the songs can be seen and heard simultaneously worldwide. The magnitude of this song and the pairing of the iconic couple — Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol — has captured the hearts of millions. We have a separate plan for each single, as we are confident that the entire album is something the fans will cherish for a lifetime.”
