Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2: Why Only Lead Actresses Return?
Pyaar Ka Punchnama won the hearts of the audiences by telling a story which is usual in the real world, yet unusual in the world of cinema. Another distinct thing about the film is its casting. The sequel of the “cult classic” is all set to hit the theatres on October 16 and has new faces. Going against the usual trend of retaining male protagonists in sequels, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 makers have retained the female cast, replacing 2 male lead actors.
Ask Abhishek Pathak about the same and he laughs off saying, “That’s because the face of the devil stays the same”. The producer of the film further added, “The sequel is a new story and we didn’t want it to seem like a complete extension of the first film, which it is not. The girls haven’t been re-cast as they collectively, pretty much represent all the trouble the boys find themselves in, when in love”.
Only Kartik Aaryan from the original will feature in the sequel as well. Raayo S Bakhirta and Divyendu Sharma have been replaced with Omkar Kapoor and Sunny Singh in the next chapter of the franchise. The female cast, which includes Sonalli Sehgall, Nushrat Bharucha and Ishita Sharma have however retained their roles in the sequel.
