Manisha Koirala To Play Sanjay Dutt’s Mother Nargis In His Biopic

Yesteryear actress Manisha Koirala is all set to make her Bollywood comeback with a bang. The 3 idiots director Rajkumar Hirani has confirmed that the Dil se actress has been roped in for his next project. This will be for Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, where Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the lead role.

Interestingly, Manisha will be essaying the legendary actress and Sanju’s mother, Nargis Dutt. On why he chose the Mann actress for this role, the filmmaker said, “We were thinking of many actresses. And while Manisha is really pretty and a fantastic actress, my primary reason for taking her is that she’s a cancer survivor and, having been through the journey herself, can identify with Nargisji’s fight with the Big C”.

Rajkumar added that his team met with Manisha and she was generous to reveal a little about her own journey with the disease. Talking about other characters, Sanjay’s wife, Maanyata, will be played by Dia Mirza and his earlier love interest, by Sonam Kapoor.
