Dilip Kumar still in ICU, condition stable despite complications, say Mumbai doctors
Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar remained under observation at the Intensive Care Unit of Lilavati hospital on Friday. Doctors said that despite his medical complications, his condition is stable.
“He is still in the ICU as of now. His condition is stable, but doctors are observing him continuously,” said Dr Sitaram Gawde, Medical Superintendent of Lilavati hospital.
The actor was initially admitted in the general ward of the hospital owing to dehydration and kidney complications on Wednesday. However, on Thursday, he was shifted to the ICU of the hospital to receive medication through intravenous drip.
“His creatinine level were slightly elevated, due to which there were urinary complications, but otherwise he is stable. He isn’t on ventilator but his condition hasn’t improved,” said doctors from the hospital.
Elevated creatinine level signify impaired kidney function or kidney disease.
The CEO of the hospital, Dr Ravishankar, said that he is constantly checking with the doctors and medical superintendent about the status of Kumar’s health from Delhi. “The only major issue was dehydration. Since dehydration also affects kidneys and other organs momentarily, he suffered minor urinary issues. Otherwise there is no major complication,” said Dr Ravishankar.
The 94-year-old Bollywood actor has been facing medical complications in recent years. Last year, Kumar needed hospitalization in April due to fever and nausea. He was brought to Lilavati Hospital again in December owing to a swelling in his right leg.
