Anupam Kher says more Bollywood films should be made on Indian Armed Forces
Actor Anupam Kher is quite impressed with the way Hollywood portrays the US military in films. He feels that Bollywood, too, should follow that example. Kher, who has played the role of an intelligence officer in films such as Baby (2015) and Naam Shabana, says, “Abroad you have films like Air Force One (1997), and you see the kind of response those films get. Why not here as well then?”
Talking about the recent response to Naam Shabana and Baby, he says, “If the message is good, then it’s good that such films are getting made and the audience is getting to know the role of our armed forces and intelligence agencies in making our lives better. When a message gets projected, you feel the vibrations in the audience,” he says. He adds that such films always receive a good response. “In the past we have had films such as Purab Aur Paschim (1970). Having said that we are all patriotic in our own way, and we don’t need to prove that to anyone,” he says.
About his reasons for choosing a film, he says, “There are various reasons why one does a film. The most important thing is how I feel about it. Then I see who all are there in the film and who is directing it. I have done over 500 films, so I don’t bother about how much time I will get on screen.”
