Tamil debut for Tanvi Ganesh Lonkar, Slumdog Millionaire’s young lady
Updated : May 01, 2014 03:09 AM ISTTanvi Ganesh Lonkar became a popular name in the film industry after she shone as the adolescent version of Frieda Pinto in Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire. Now she is set to make her debut in the Tamil film industry with Sandithen Unnai, a romantic thriller.
The 18-year-old has impressed her director a lot with her hard work in Sandithen Unnai, which also marks the debut for Kaushik Ram and Vettri. Director Nagamaneci said, "I don't know if it's the effect of Danny Boyle or because she is a natural actor, but Tanvi is a treat to work with. Even though she has a language barrier, she doesn't allow it to come in between her work. She learnt her lines and mouths them with confidence.”
He added further, "Tanvi has a knack for making note of every smallest detail. You don't have to spoon-feed her because when you show what you want, she gives you exactly that.” When asked why a Tollywood actress was not cast in the role, the filmmaker said, "I don't think nobody worries about all that nowadays because so many actors have crossed over to other industries and they have been accepted. I think what matters is whether an actor can play a particular role or not."
