5 Things That You Need To Know About Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon

For the past 15 years, Vishal Bhardwaj has spoiled with one brilliant movie after the other. From creating a classic kids movie Makdee to the brilliantly original gangster drama Kaminey to adapting great from Shakespearian literature in the form of Maqbool, Omkara and Haider.

And now the filmmaker moves forward with Rangoon and it's nothing like the director has ever done before,

Here are the things that you should know about it:

The Cast

The film boasts not one but three leads in the form of Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut. While Shahid Kapoor will portray an Indian National Army (INA) soldier in the upcoming ilm, Kangana Ranaut will play the role of a Broadway actress. Saif Ali Khan, on the other hand, will be seen emulating the role of a filmmaker in the black-and-white era of cinema.

The Plot

Though some have said the movie is inspired from Hollywood classic Casablanca, there has been no confirmation on this as of yet. What's confirmed though that the move will be a love triangle in the period of World War II.

The Makers

Whille Vishal Bhardwaj is leading the project, the film is co-written by Matthew Robbins, along with the director. Robbins also shared writing credits on Vishal Bhardwaj's 7 Khoon Maaf. The film is being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and UTV motion pictures.

The Preparation

The production of the movie has been challenging. While Shahid Kapoor has been injured on the set, Vishal Bhardwaj has complained about the taxing post-production of the film. Kangana Ranaut has shared that she had to change her costumes outside.

Release Date

While the movie was slated to release this October, it has been delayed to next year. As for now, the movie will release on February 24, 2017.
