Sharad Malhotra Once Felt He Will Be The Next Shah Rukh Khan
Updated : July 14, 2020 09:31 PM ISTThe transition from TV to Bollywood has now been attempted by several actors and Shah Rukh Khan’s superstardom truly points to the fact that it is indeed possible to make the switch successfully. Shushant Singh Rajput too managed to break the boundaries and now actor Sharad Malhotra reveals he once thought he was done with TV and would be the next Shah Rukh Khan after he began signing films.
Sharad had made his debut with the TV show Banoo Main Teri Dulhann and his performance was truly extraordinary earning him all the respect and success an actor could ask from their first show. Then he turned to movies and did two of them including From Sydney with Love and Ek Tera Saath, both major box office failures.

In a chat with ETimes Sharad says his deams shattered after his films failed and he then kept away from acting for four years. He tells the portal, “After my shows became hits, I was under this notion that I would become the next Shah Rukh Khan. I starred in two films — From Sydney with Love and Ek Tera Saath — and both were huge flops. I felt like my dreams were shattered. I found it difficult to come to terms with the fact that my films did not work. That was the worst phase of my life because I had already stopped thinking of doing TV shows.”
Talking about giving it all up he says, “For four years, I kept away from everyone. Eventually, I turned towards spirituality, meditated daily and focused on exercising. It took me another two years to muster enough courage and gather confidence to look for work.”
Sharad says he turned to spirituality to and finally found it in himself to find work again. He says he realized what TV had given him and was warmly welcomed back by the industry.
The TV actor hasn’t entirely given up on his dream to act in films but he focuses on working hard and keeping himself mentally strong. Sharad also said that no one has the right to judge what Sushant’s as no one knows what was in his mind.
