Updated : July 04, 2020 12:37 AM ISTAmitabh Bachchan’s TV stint began with the iconic game show Kaun Banega Crorepati 20 years ago. The show is said to have given the legendary actor’s career a new lease of life. He came on TV asking ‘9 baj gaye kya’ and confidently spoke to his machine asking his ‘coumputer ji’ to lock answers given by contestants who could win the unimaginable sum of Rs. one crore for answering just general knowledge 15 questions.
The show remains of the most iconic game show formats on TV which still continues with the actor in his unique style. However, according to popular authors and sports columnist Joy Bhattacharjya KBC was originally supposed to ‘Kaun Banega Lakhpati’. In a tweet he writes that apparently media mogul Rupert Murdoch wasn’t too impressed with the sum –lakh – and asked for a higher denomination making it – crore.

The quiz show which is based on the format of the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ its American cousin, KBC is now all set to start its 12th season but this time with a whole new format. The show will be going digital with Amitabh Bachchan as the host and contestants playing from home due to the covid-19 situation. The registrations for the show already started in May.
