Did You Know Imtiaz Ali Conceived The Story Of Highway From A TV Show Episode?
Updated : February 21, 2019 06:35 PM ISTHighway has been considered as one of the best works of Imtiaz Ali. Even though most of Imtiaz Ali's film has a special place in the Hindi film industry, Highway delved into the complex Stockholm syndrome and put forth a question to the audiences that still remains unsolved- did Mahabir capture Veera or did he set her free?

Well, while we have all enjoyed this cinematic brilliance, did you know that director Imitiaz Ali came up with the idea of the film when he directed and shot a TV episode of the same name in Zee Tv's Rishtey. It was a series and Ali had directed one episode in the series, Highway. It was from there that he had the whole idea of the film ready and he knew what he wanted to do right from the early 2000s.
In fact, he had finalised Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta for the film in 2005! Later, Ayesha Takia replaced Preity and Bobby was chosen instead of his brother. The film was also launched in a grand way in 2006, but the shoot never began.
But we can not be more grateful for a film like Highway that changed the way we looked at mainstream Hindi films. It also revealed what a powerhouse of talent Alia Bhatt is.
