Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi Follows The Footsteps Of Gulabo Sitabo, To Now Release On Prime

When COVID-19 was first diagnosed, what no one could have predicted was it to snowball into the pandemic that it has now turned. Not just has there been massive loss of lives and economy, but on a smaller level, it has affected the way we looked at normal life. In India, citizens have been locked up inside their homes for close to two months now and while we are hoping that the lockdown would be lifted soon, we know it for a fact that it would take a lot of time for things to return to normal. So yes, in the coming months, we are already prepared to know that malls, recreational parks and theatres would be shut. So, many of the filmmakers, whose films were ready before the lockdown, have decided to release them on OTT platforms. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Ghooomketu will release on Zee5 and Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana starrer would premiere on Amazon Prime. Now, Vidya Balan starrer Shakuntala Devi will also follow suit.

The film, which is a biography of genius mathematician Shakuntala Devi, is all set to release on Amazon Prime. It was slated to release originally on May 8 and the film was ready well before the lockdown. We are yet to know the new release date!

The film will star Vidya Balan in the titular role. Sanya Malhotra will play her on-screen daughter and Amit Sadh will be seen as her son-in-law.
